I truly think that as time passes that Jacks will turn human. At the end of ACFTL, Jacks’s powers weren’t working. He thought it was because he was too weak or exhausted, but it might actually be because he’s a touch human now.
Evangeline’s love has broken Jacks’s curse. It was the one thing keeping him ageless with fantastical powers. So, it would make sense that he had entirely lost access. It was different with Legend, who kept his powers despite losing his immortality. Jacks was a Fate and being a Fate had conditions–for him, it was that his true love could break the curse.
Jacks wasn’t healing as quickly anymore. Before, he was healed after Luc’s bite, Chaos’s bites, and even Evangeline’s bites almost instantly. But after he kissed Evangeline, his injuries only grew and reacted like normal.
Then here comes the epilogue…

The story curse is probably the only narrator who could be accurate and unreliable at the same time. In TBONA, the story curse referred to Jacks as “The Fate.”
Because that was true. Jacks was still a Fate with his glowing skin, impossible strength, and hypnotizing powers. But in ACFTL, the story curse did not refer to him as the “Fate” but barely human.
It reminds me of the movie Alice in Wonderland (2010). Alice had a prophecy, too, to fulfill. She looked into the calendar and saw herself fight the scary jabberwocky. In horror, she insisted she wasn’t the right Alice. However, Absalom had repeatedly told her that she wasn’t “Alice” yet. That she was always “not hardly” Alice. It insinuates that she would become this Alice in the future. And she did eventually become the Alice that would go face to face with the jabberwocky.
That’s what I think is happening with Jacks. Not quite human, but he will be in the future. So, not to worry! Evajacks will be together forever, aging side by side 😊💕🍎🦊
